The “Gdolim BeMadim” (Special in Uniform) project was founded about a decade ago by the Yad LaYeled HaMeyuchad (“Lend a Hand to a Special Child”) organization, with the goal of integrating boys and girls with disabilities into the IDF – and, through this, promoting their inclusion in Israeli society.

enlight partnered with the organization and launched the “Iftach Program” in memory of Captain Iftah Yavetz z”l, an operations officer of the Maglan unit who fell in heroic battle on October 7 while defending Kibbutz Nahal Oz. enlight adopted the Maglan base in Julis and now provides resources to support the integration of ten young people with special needs into the unit.

In a moving ceremony held at the beginning of 2024, Iftach’s family members presented the program’s soldiers with IDF uniforms and the unit’s beret — officially welcoming them into Maglan.
